A throat infection recently sidelined three UK concerts by British comedian Russell Brand. Affected shows were February 13 at Hammersmith Apollo in London and February 14-15 at Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow, SCO.

Hammersmith Apollo has been rescheduled for April 11, and Clyde Auditorium has been re-booked for April 9-10. All tickets to the previous shows will be honored for the new dates.

“I will make it up to everyone at the rescheduled gigs on April 9, 10 and 11,” Brand said in a statement. “I’m in bed, very confused, at the specialist’s insistence. I’m alone — except for the cat, who I’m thinking of putting a bikini on — it must be the fever!”

The comedian launched his extensive tour of the UK in mid-January. He will next perform at the Plymouth Pavilions in Plymouth on February 18 and 19.

Brand is probably best remembered on these shores for his risque performance last fall as the host of the MTV Video Music Awards. He has also made an forays into American pop culture with his film work, such as his acclaimed turn in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and most recent work in “Bedtime Stories.”
