Summer touring favorites the Dave Matthews Band has announced an extensive 52-date North American tour this year where they will debut new material from their forthcoming, still-to-be-titled studio album, which they are currently recording with producer Rob Cavallo.
The tour, which includes several multiple-night engagements, kicks off with multiple shows in Burgettstown, PA, May 30-31 and concludes with three consecutive nights Sept. 5-7 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA. Among the tour stops is the inaugural, Rothbury eco-friendly music festival, which DMB is headlining on July 5.
Opening acts for the tour are a varied lot, including Willie Nelson, the Black Crowes, Robert Earl Keen, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, State Radio, O.A.R., Michael Franti and Spearhead, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Paolo Nutini, TR3, Eli Young Band, Gomez and Ingrid Michaelson.
The new album is a follow up to 2005’s Stand Up, the fourth consecutive DMB studio record to debut at #1 on The Billboard 200. Guitarist and longtime friend Tim Reynolds is marking his first recording with the band since 1998’s Before These Crowded Streets.
Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds are also performing at an April 11 benefit in Seattle, WA, for Dalai Lama/Seeds of Compassion.
