Dave Matthews Band will perform a June 1 benefit concert at New York’s Beacon Theatre that will be televised on the Madison Square Garden-owned Fuse Network. MSG has a long term lease on the venue hosting the event.
There is no public on-sale for this show. It is a private event for DMB fan club members, with admission offered on an “invitation-only” level.
Concert proceeds will benefit Dave Matthews Band’s Bama Works Fund that supports charitable programs in the Charlottesville, VA area, where the band is based. The fund benefits disadvantaged youth, the disabled, the environment, and the arts and humanities, among other issues.
For those unable to attend the June 1 event, “Fuse Presents Dave Matthews Band: Live from the Beacon Theatre” will be televised commercial-free in HD. It is part of the band’s promotion for their new album, “Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King,” to be released June 2. Fuse will also present a week of original Dave Matthews Band programming.
“Today’s entertainment environment is all about providing unique content and a meaningful experience,” said Jay Marciano, president of MSG Entertainment, in a statement. “We are thrilled to work with Dave Matthews Band to support them on their tour and the release of one of the most highly anticipated albums of the year, and such a meaningful project to the band and their fans.”
Fuse’s special weeklong DMB programming includes footage from the band’s tour launch on April 14 at their sold out Madison Square Garden show, a Fuse interview about their album and behind-the-scenes footage from their hometown tour stop in Charlottesville.
Dave Matthews Band kicked off a one-month spring tour on April 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY. The jam band’s summer tour itinerary begins May 27 at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Darien Center, NY, and ends October 2 at BOK Center in Tulsa, OK.
