Depeche Mode were forced to cancel their August 12 performance at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA. Under doctor’s orders, singer Dave Gahan needs complete vocal rest for 48 hours.

The show will not be rescheduled since the British group will not be returning to the Bay Area on this tour. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.

Live Nation, the show’s promoter, says Depeche Mode will return to the Bay Area next year.

“San Francisco is one of the most important cities to the band, and we are devastated that we have been forced to cancel this date,” posted Gahan on the band’s Web site. “We hope to be back soon to play for all of our fans in the area.”

The band was plagued by 12 concert cancellations in Europe this spring and summer, first due to Gahan’s severe bout of gastroenteritis and then a leg injury. On May 12, Gahan underwent an operation to remove a tumor from his bladder.

Depeche Mode’s next concert is scheduled for August 14 at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheater in San Diego, CA.
