Illness has forced the cancellation of Duran Duran‘s first three North American shows on the final leg of the group’s year-long Red Carpet Massacre World Tour.

The December 1 concert at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, TX, the December 2 show at Nokia Theatre in Dallas, TX, and the December 4 gig at Brady Theatre in Tulsa, OK, were all cancelled while keyboardist Nick Rhodes continues to suffer from a very serious inner ear infection. Doctors have told Rhodes that he is still not allowed to travel, according to a post on the band’s Web site.

The dates will not be rescheduled, although the band’s statement noted that they were all “extremely disappointed that they will not be able to play…and hope that they can make up the date(s) in the future.” Tickets will be fully refunded at the point of purchase.

The next show on the band’s itinerary is a December 5 concert at the Verizon Wireless Theatre in Houston, TX. Duran Duran will finish their world tour on December 14 in Montclair, NJ. The tour kicked off in November 2007 with a two-week stint on Broadway.
