As the release of their latest studio record looms, pop-punk rockers Fall Out Boy (FOB) have announced plans for a variety of U.S. performances in December, as well as more world tour dates for 2009. FOB’s next show is scheduled for tonight (December 1) at The Basement in Columbus, OH, with more U.S. dates booked through December 21 at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA.

The December 1 show and a December 3 concert at Creepy Crawly in St. Louis, MO, are stops on FOB’s special club concert series. The rockers announced the first shows of the series earlier in the fall.

Next year opens with jaunts in Japan and Australia, with a single stop in New Zealand. Afterwards, a recently announced European tour opens with a run of four UK shows. The outing opens with a March 5 concert at Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England, and continues across the mainland through a March 23 gig at AB in Brussels, Belgium.

Tickets for the December 1 and 3 club shows are available to the public on the day of the event only, with limited presales available through the band’s official fan club, Overcast Kids. In addition, presales for the 2009 European tour begin on the site today (December 1), with a limited number of Early Entry and Meet & Greet tickets also available.

The band’s fifth studio album “Folie à Deux” is slated to hit store shelves on December 16, after the rockers opted to delay its original November 4 release so as not to detract from the seriousness of Election Day in the U.S. In October, the band released a statement explaining, “Six months ago we thought it would be a fun idea to release our album on Election Day, but this is not the election to be cute.”

So far, the album has received positive ratings from Blender, as well as from British publications The Observer and Rock Sound. The album features guest appearances by a number of major recording artists, including Elvis Costello, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Debbie Harry.

Fall Out Boy’s previous record, 2007’s “Infinity on High,” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was RIAA-certified Platinum a little more than a month after its release.
