The one-man mash-up band Girl Talk is hitting the road again this fall after rocking some of the summer’s biggest music festivals. The 30-date jaunt starts October 9 at Starlight Ballroom in Philadelphia, PA, and continues through November 18, the final gig of a three-night run at Terminal 5 in New York, NY.

The tour features a rotating line-up of supporting acts. Grand Buffet and Hearts of Darkness playing most October dates, while The DeathSet and CX KiDTRoNiK will pick up most of November. However, the two band pairings switch off during Girl Talk’s multi-night appearances at The Music Box in Los Angeles (October 24-25), The Fillmore in San Francisco (October 27-28), and Terminal 5 in New York City (November 15-16, 18).

Girl Talk, consisting solely of biomedical engineer-turned-musician Gregg Gillis, is touring behind his 2008 digital release “Feed the Animals.” As with his three previous albums, including the 2002 debut “Secret Diary,” Gillis composed the album’s tracks by mashing samples from dozens of illegally borrowed songs.

For example, the track “What’s It All About” samples 35 songs by mainstream artists in just more than four minutes. Understandably, a New York Times reviewer mused in a July article, “Girl Talk’s music is a lawsuit waiting to happen.”

But that hasn’t stopped Girl Talk’s growing popularity. In just a matter of days over the summer, Gillis staged his energetic act at both Lollapalooza (August 3) and All Points West (August 8). Girl Talk is currently on break until the fall tour kicks off in a few weeks.
