With his first new studio album in six years set for a September 2008 release, Jackson Browne has booked a world tour that starts out in the US, followed by dates in Japan, Australia and Europe, before returning to the States for a summer leg. The summer 2009 itinerary has not been published yet.

Touring behind his new album, “Time The Conqueror,” the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famer’s Time The Conqueror World Tour kicks off on September 15 in Washington, DC, and finishes up on November 3 in Phoenix, AZ.

Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning August 8. Special, limited benefit tickets supporting the Guacamole Fund are now available online for select shows only. Seats are located in the center sections of the fourth and fifth rows.

Well-known for his political and social activism, Browne received the Chapin-World Hunger Year Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award in 2007. In 2002, he was the fourth recipient of the John Steinbeck Award, given to artists whose works exemplify the environmental and social values that were essential to the great California-born author.

Last year, Browne was inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. In 2004, he was named an honorary Doctorate of Music by Occidental College in Los Angeles, for “a remarkable musical career that has successfully combined an intensely personal artistry with a broader vision of social justice.”

Over the course of his career, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famer has released more than one dozen studio albums. However, his best-selling album to date, “Running On Empty,” was recorded entirely on the road — both in concert and in hotel rooms.
