Over the course of a few years, James Blunt went from British Army officer to international pop-rock sensation. Now the singer-songwriter is poised to continue his musical domination by bringing his brand of sensitive songs back to North America with a late year tour of Canada.
The 12-date Lost Souls Tour begins November 17 at General Motors Place in Vancouver, BC, and continues mapping dates across the provinces through a December 3 concert at Harbour Station in St. John, NB. Blunt will perform at arenas in major markets across Canada, including a November 20 concert at Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary, AB, and a November 27 gig at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON.
Blunt’s tour is backing his 2007 album, “All the Lost Souls,” which topped 18 album charts around the world and peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. The album is a follow-up to Blunt’s 2005 debut “Back to Bedlam,” a record that dominated the world charts for dozens of weeks in some cases and peaked at No. 2 in the U.S.
His debut success was largely driven by the lead single “You’re Beautiful,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100, Pop 100, Hot Digital Songs and Adult Contemporary charts in 2006. His subsequent singles, including the most recent radio track “1973,” have all failed to break into the top 30 on the same charts. His next single “Love, Love, Love” is scheduled to hit stores on November 17, according to Blunt’s official Web site.
Earlier in the year the Lost Souls Tour made stops in the U.S., first headlining a VH1-promoted jaunt in February and then supporting Sheryl Crow late in the summer. However, these theater and performance hall runs are no comparison to his large-scale stadium and arena tours in other countries, including his upcoming run in Canada.
