Tony Award nominee Jeremy Shamos will co-star in the new Broadway show Meteor Shower, replacing Alan Tudyk, who left the production due to “creative differences”, according to Broadway.com.

Jeremy Shamos received a Tony Award nomination for his performance in Clybourne Park, for which he also received Drama League Award and Lucille Lortel Award nominations. Other Broadway credits include Noises Off, The Assembled Parties, Glengarry Glen Ross, Elling, Reckless and The Rivals.

Meteor Shower, written by Steve Martin, enjoys a star-studded cast that includes Emmy winning comedians Amy Schumer and Keegan-Michael Key, who make their Broadway debuts in the show, and Tony winner Laura Benanti (Gypsy).

The show’s official site describes the show:

It’s a hot night in Ojai, California, and Corky (Amy Schumer) and her husband Norm (Jeremy Shamos) are having another couple over for dinner. But Laura (Laura Benanti) and Gerald (Keegan-Michael Key) aren’t looking for a casual evening of polite small talk with new friends. Eventually, the two couples find themselves in a marital free-fall matched in velocity and peril only by the smoldering space rocks tearing through the sky. Entertaining has never been more entertaining than in this “cosmic comedy from the master of the American absurd” (Variety).

Meteor Shower will be produced by Joey Parnes, Sue Wagner, and John Johnson. The design team includes Tony winner Beowulf Borritt (scenic design), Tony winner Ann Roth (costume design), six-time Tony winner Natasha Katz (lighting design) and Fitz Patton (sound design). Four-time Tony winner Jerry Zaks directs.

The comedy first premiered at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego before going on to play New Haven, Connecticut’s Long Wharf Theatre. Variety’s review of the Connecticut production says of the show that, “even amid the head-scratching, it’s a pleasure watching how Martin probes the fault line of marriage, social dynamics and cultural swings.”

Meteor Shower will begin previews on Broadway November 1 prior to a November 29 opening night at the Booth Theatre. Tickets are on sale now.
