Lady Gaga announced early this morning on her official website as well as her social media pages that she has been forced to postpone the European leg of her Joanne World Tour due to “severe physical pain that has impacted her ability to perform”. The six-week, 18-gig tour leg was set to start in Barcelona on September 21 and conclude in Koln, Germany on October 28 with shows in Italy, France, Britain, and more in between.

The announcement follows several recent cancellations by the Grammy-winning singer on her highly anticipated tour. She contracted a respiratory infection that prevented her Montreal show a few weeks ago, and pulled out of a performance in Brazil this past Friday. A tweet from Gaga told fans: “Brazil, I’m devastated that I’m not well enough 2 come to Rock In Rio. I would do anything 4 u but I have to take care of my body right now”.

Lady Gaga recently opened up about her struggle with fibromyalgia, a condition known to cause widespread chronic muscle pain and fatigue. “I have always been honest about my physical and mental health struggles”, Gaga wrote this morning in announcing the postponement. She explains further that, “trauma and chronic pain have changed my life, but because they are keeping me from living a normal life. They are also keeping me from what I love the most in the world: performing for my fans. I am looking forward to touring again soon, but I have to be with my doctors right now so I can be strong and perform for you all for the next 60 years or more. I love you so much”.

Live Nation’s announcement states that the 31 year-old Joanne singer “plans to spend the next seven weeks proactively working with her doctors to heal from this and past traumas that still affect her daily life, and result in severe physical pain in her body. She wants to give her fans the best version of the show she built for them when the tour resumes”.

Live Nation advises European fans to hold on to their existing tickets pending additional information once it is available, and assured others that the second leg of the North American tour, which kicks off in November, is currently scheduled to go on as planned.
