With 14 concerts still not on sale around the globe, Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour has already passed the 1 million mark in tickets sold. Madonna will play a total of 55 concerts and still has eight South American, four European and two North American shows to be announced.

Live Nation, the tour’s promoter, released this information two days after the New York Post ran a story entitled “Madonna Sale$ Sag: Live Nation Defends Limp Response to Her US Tour.” The article discussed four out five North American stadiums that have not yet sold out, but the singer is not scheduled to play them until November – five months away.

To date Madonna has sold out 90 percent of the tickets available for her tour, which kicks off in Cardiff, Wales on August 23.

Madonna sold out two shows in three hours for the November 29-30 shows at Foro Sol Stadium in Mexico City, moving 100,000 tickets. Mexico City joins the growing list of sold out shows, which includes Paris, Lisbon, New York, Zurich, Boston, Chicago, Denver, East Rutherford, NJ, Oakland, Las Vegas, Houston, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. Shows in all of those cities sold out within hours of going on sale, according to Live Nation.
