Pop-rock group Maroon 5 is heading to college mid-semester this November for a one-month tour of U.S. campuses. The 11-date fall outing begins November 2 at the Regional Events Center at Murray State University in Murray, KY, and concludes November 22 at Charles Koch Arena at Witchita State University in Wichita, KS.

The tour will primarily focus on college markets in the Northeast and Midwest. Stops include performances on November 6 8 at Barton Hall in Ithaca, NY, and November 16 at Bob Carpenter Center in Newark, DE.

Pre-sales for the late fall run were first opened to students at each college before being opened to the general public earlier this fall. Singer-songwriter K’Naan and hip-hop artist MC Griot are the main support for the entire tour, with Guster also stepping in as a special guest during a November 14 show in Lewisburg, PA.

Maroon 5’s college tour is promoting the upcoming release of the band’s third studio album. A title for the work has not yet been announced, but the band is looking at a spring 2010 release date.

“After spending the summer in the studio recording overseas, we are excited to be returning home and to the road this fall,” frontman Adam Levine said in a statement on the band’s official Web site. “It’s exciting for us to hit the stage again together and also get a chance to debut some of our new material that we’ve been recording for our fans.”

The Los Angeles-based quintet dominated the mainstream market when it debuted in 2002 with “Songs About Jane,” a quadruple-Platinum hit. Songs like “This Love,” “She Will Be Loved” and “Sunday Morning” received massive airplay, making the band a hot ticket on the world tour circuit.

It wasn’t until 2007 that Maroon 5 followed with its second studio album, “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long.” The album debuted atop the Billboard 200 and went on to achieve double-Platinum status, again driven by a string of radio hits.
