Current economic challenges and resulting budget limitations have been cited as the cause for the cancellation of rapper Matisyahu‘s April 18 concert in Vail, CO. The concert was part of the Spring Back to Vail event, April 13-19, produced by event marketing firm Highline Sports & Entertainment.

Billed performances by Chris Isaak on April 17 and Of A Revolution (O.A.R.) on April 19 will remain on the schedule as planned. All concerts are free.

“In conjunction with Vail Resorts, we recognize that these are challenging times and understand the importance of demonstrating fiscal responsibility,” said James Deighan of Highline Sports & Entertainment in a statement. “At the same time, we want to say thank you to all of guests for another great season and not diminish the longevity of Spring Back to Vail, an annual Vail festival we’ve all come to love. That’s why all of this year’s Spring Back to Vail events will be on us.”

Spring Back to Vail is set for April 13-19 and will include on-snow events, live music, nightly parties, the World Pond Skimming Championships and new for 2009, the Breitling All Mountain Film Competition.
