The hit 2004 film Mean Girls is officially being adapted into a musical that will premiere in Washington D.C. in October and hit Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre in March of 2018.

A Broadway version of the mega-popular movie has been circulating the rumor mill for some time now, but the show was formally announced on Wednesday with this video from Tina herself as the proof we’d all been waiting for.

Tina Fey, popular for her writing and acting roles in television hits like Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock, wrote the screenplay and had a small role in the film. She will co-write the musical with her husband, composer Jeff Richard (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, 30 Rock) producing the music. Broadway buffs Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde) will write lyrics and Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon) will direct and choreograph.

The role of Mean Girls‘ lead protagonist, Cady Heron, played by Lindsay Lohan in the film, will go to Erika Hennsingsen (Dear World, Les Miserables). Cady’s friends Damian Hubbard and Janis Sarkisian will be played by Grey Henson and Barrett Wilbert Weed. The role of head mean girl Regina George (Rachel McAdams in the film) will go to Taylor Louderman and her sidekicks Gretchen Weiners and Karen Smith will be Ashley Park and Kate Rockwell. Reprising Tina Fey’s role of Ms. Norbury will be Kerry Butler.

The show will preview at the National Theatre in D.C. from October 31 – December 3, and tickets are available here. Mean Girls will hit Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre for preview on March 12, and opening night is set for April 8. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, October 3rd, but will be available to American Express Card holders from Sunday, September 10th through Monday, September 25th, and to Audience Rewards members from Monday, September 25th to Monday, October 2nd.
