MetLife Stadium climbed to the top of TicketNews exclusive venue rankings this week thanks to some highly anticipated events taking place at the two-year old stadium.
Driving the venue into the No. 1 position were ticket sales for the Garden State’s hometown hero, Bruce Springsteen. The singer, who is affectionately known to his fans as “The Boss,” will be performing at the open-air venue alongside his beloved E Street Band for three dates in September.
Additionally helping the stadium lead the way this week, were resident NFL football teams, the New York Giants and the New York Jets. The NFL released its 2012 regular season schedule last Tuesday which includes the season kick-off between the Giants and the Dallas Cowboys on September 5 at MetLife Stadium.
The Cowboys home stadium also made a strong showing and was able to make its debut in the rankings grabbing the No. 5 spot. In addition to Cowboys tickets, Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX, enjoyed a boost when tickets to the popular Brothers of the Sun Tour featuring Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw went on sale this past week for their upcoming June 9 performance.
With the Major League Baseball season now in full swing, baseball stadiums are starting to show up on the top venue rankings this week. Wrigley Field home to the Chicago Cubs grabbed the No. 4 position, Citizens Bank Park home to the Philadelphia Phillies jumped into the No. 5 spot and New York’s Yankees Stadium dropped to No. 7 this week, down from No. 3 last week.
