Details about Michael Jackson’s much-anticipated upcoming movie, “This Is It,” have been revealed. The documentary will be released worldwide for a limited, two-week-only engagement beginning October 28, having been moved up two days early by Sony Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment. Tickets go on sale beginning September 27 in most cities.
Drawn from more than 100 hours of rehearsal footage shot from April through June, fans will get a rare portrait and behind-the-scenes look at Jackson, who died on June 25 just three weeks before the start of his sold-out 50-show run at O2 Arena in London, ENG.
“This film is Michael’s gift to his fans,” said Jackson’s longtime choreographer Kenny Ortega, who is also directing the film, in a statement. “As we began assembling the footage for the motion picture, we realized we captured something extraordinary, unique and very special. It’s a very private, exclusive look into a creative genius’s world.”
Ortega said that for the first time ever, fans will see Jackson as they have never seen him before.
“It is raw, emotional, moving and powerful footage that captures his interactions with the ‘This Is It’ collaborators that he had personally assembled for this once in a lifetime project,” he continued. “I’m proud of the many years of friendship and creative association I shared with Michael, and I’m happy that people will get a chance to see his spirit and drive in action.”
Ortega noted, “‘This Is It’ may go down as the greatest concert that no one got a chance to see, but with this film, we get a rare portrait of Michael as he prepares for his final curtain call and what I believe was going to be his master work.”
Randy Phillips, president and CEO of AEG Live, the O2 concerts’ promoter, added: “I have never been partners with a more creative, innovative or groundbreaking entertainer than Michael Jackson. While the concerts would have been the greatest shows in the history of music, our film will provide a historic event for Michael’s fans to see for themselves the genius that he was and the creativity, talent and imagination that the entire cast devoted to create the ‘greatest concert that never happened’.
Additional information about the film will be available at the official Michael Jackson Web site in the coming weeks.

Im Riqi.
thank you so much in advance.
AEG claimed that MJ was going to do 50 shows, although they only offered tickets for 10 shows which promptly sold out.
But, if anyone thinks either Sony or the Jackson Family Trust are going to settle for just a two-week run of This is It, you are sadly mistaken. All of Michael Jackson’s fans would not be able to see the concert within the two-week window. So, either the two week run gets extended and/or the “concert” is sold on DVD. Or, maybe they have another idea up their proverbial sleeves … like sell the concert in installments on the web?
I’m glad that us MJ Fans will get 2 C MJ in his creative mode. I just wish that we had an idea of what 2 expect with how the tix R going 2 be sold (where, how much, etc) I heard there R parts in 3-D also. Whatever the case, I wnuldn’t miss it 4 the world. LONG LIVE THE KING OF POP!
If this concert is to be “Michael’s Gift for his fans”, he would turn over in his grave to see how much they are limiting “his fans” to seeing this show concert! Michael loved us and would never have allowed this “2 week” fiasco!! There will be millions of us who, because of poor management by his family, will be prevented from seeing our King of Pop. Michael would have wanted all of his fans to see his greatest show ever…
How do I find a theater nearest me…zipcode: 03458
what sony is dishonoring michaels name and his legacy
he would have never done this because he loved his fans and always thought of us first
we need to band together in order to keep his legacy from being destroyed & dishonored by greedy executives lets not let them destroy his legacy in memory as they have destroyed our idol
email me so we can form the forever michael foundation
respectfully yours,
Derealzzet
Michael was going to do only 10 shows in London of all places so your point is invalid
Michael would not have wanted his tickets to be handled this way. This happened once before at one of the Jackson 5 concerts he reunited with and the tickets were a 5 ticket minimum which left many people out and the tickets were sold by mail with money orders and people weren’t even told whether they had tickets or not until right before the concert. Much more money was sent in than tickets were available. Michael became very angry and threatened to pull himself from the concert unless this was straightened out. When it was over he donated his total proceeds to charity.
Please let me know how much and where you can purchase the tickets for Michael Jackson’s This is it movie.
I will always love Michael Jackson his work and his talent will always be in my heart.i will miss him but I must realize that god took him to a better place everyone should have loved him when he was here on earth with us but you see how some people did him that was not right to do such a thing to gods angel Michael Jackson.now he is in gods house so lets just keep the king of pop in our hearts and let him rest in peace.
Yippee skippee! It seems I got my tickets before most and have avoided the crazy rush. I got the matinee price of $6.00 for October 29 at the Century 16 Pleasant Hill theater in California. I used Fandango and there was a $1 service fee. That appears to be the only place I found it for so far.
Check it out if you’re a local.
Good Luck,
Excited
I am a huge MJ FAN and have no idea how to go about getting tickets in NYC.
SOMEONE HELP!?!?!? KrashNDeep at ya hoo
You can purchase tickets right now to see the 11:55pm showing on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Cobble Hill Cinemas in Brooklyn. Just got my tix! Don’t care if i go to work tired the next day!
i thought they made such a big deal about the tickets for the movie could only be bought online why are theaters saleing tickets also , if that was the case i could have waited and not stayed up to purchase tickets or is the theaters saling tickets they dont suppose to be saling ???????
How much will the tickets cost and where will we be able to purchase them from? Can we get them at the theatre we will attend?
Not getting excited until someone gives a clue about ticket price. If they think they can get a concert price, I’d say they are in for a disappointment.
They’ll handily get that price unfortunately, which will leave a lot of kids and families out in the cold if they do that. Not impressed with the lack of information on ticket venues… movie theatres or Ticketmaster? Seems ludicrous not to know till the date they are released for sale.
