Following a successful three-month tour of Europe, Neil Young is preparing for his eight-week North American tour with Death Cab for Cutie, Wilco and Everest. The Live Nation-produced performances kick off October 14 in St. Paul, MN, and culminate on December 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY.

Eight of the 19 shows scheduled for Young will take place in the Canadian provinces. The tour rounds out with stops in major cities across the U.S., including Los Angeles, CA; Omaha, NE; Detroit, MI; Chicago, IL; and Philadelphia, PA. The backing band from Young’s European gigs will reprise its role for the singer/songwriter’s North American adventure.

The up-and-coming LA-based band Everest, which just signed onto Young’s Vapor Records, will open on all dates of the tour. Two more established acts will split supporting duties for the tour. Indie heroes Death Cab For Cutie are signed on for dates from October 14 through November 5, following the conclusion of their North American tour. Alternative-country rockers Wilco will then perform the remaining tour dates, except Young’s performance in the Windy City on December 9.

All shows for this tour feature general admission floor with reserved seating in the stands. General admission seats will be priced at $75, with reserved tickets ranging from $45 to $250.

Neil Young is currently touring behind his most recent album, 2007’s “Chrome Dreams II.” However, the prolific musician is scheduled to release a box set of archived recordings, including rare, unreleased and live tracks. The release of “The Archives, Vol. 1: 1963-1972,” which was delayed several times since 1999 due to ongoing format disputes and changes, is currently slated to hit shelves on November 3, 2008.
