According to Sky Sports, analysis compiled by the league and professional services company Ernst & Young, using data collected from all 20 clubs, shows more than half of all attending fans are paying £30 (about $40) or less per match during the 2017-18 season.

E&Y results show that the average price for a ticket is £32 (about $43) for a home match and £26 (about $35) for away. Premier League clubs place a £30 cap on away tickets in 2016, and since then, 33 percent of away tickets sold below that cap.

Early bird offers and loyalty discounts accounted for 34 percent of all available Premier League season tickets selling below full-price, saving fans a total of £10 million over the course of the season.

“The loyal and passionate support of attending fans is hugely appreciated by clubs, their managers and players, and the Premier League,” said Premier League Executive Chairman, Richard Scudamore.

“This research shows the excellent value clubs are offering across the League and the impressive commitment of their fans. I hope it will challenge commonly held perceptions about the cost of attending Premier League football, and encourage even more people to consider going to a match.”

The research has been compiled using data provided directly by the clubs, including the cost of every ticket already sold or available this season. It includes all parts of Premier League stadiums except hospitality areas, and includes all ticket prices include booking fees or admin charges.

This year’s average ticket price is up only one pound from last season, when E&Y revealed the average to be £31.

The English Premier League includes AFC Bournemouth, Arsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion, Burnley, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Huddersfield Town, Leicester City, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Southampton, Stoke City, Swansea City, Tottenham Hotspur, Watford, West Bromwich Albion, and West Ham United.
