Funnyman Robin Williams has announced the rescheduled dates for his Weapons of Self-Destruction comedy tour. The final portion of Williams’ spring tour had been postponed so he could undergo emergency heart surgery.
The fall 2009 tour leg picks up September 30 at Indiana University Auditorium in Bloomington, IN, and continues through November 27-28 at the Borgata Event Center in Atlantic City, NJ. The comedian is currently scheduled to perform a total of 29 nights during the outing. Tickets from the postponed shows will be honored on their respective rescheduled dates.
In early March, Williams postponed four performances in Florida due to shortness of breath. But just a day after that announcement, the remainder of the tour was also postponed, and it was revealed that the veteran comedian would undergo aortic valve replacement.
“I realize now, shortness of breath is kind of code for heart problem, just like exhaustion is code for alcoholic,” Williams joked recently on the “Late Show with David Letterman,” his first official appearance since undergoing surgery.
Williams stayed out of the public eye for the two months following the emergency procedure. In addition to the valve replacement, the comedian also had a mitrial valve repaired and an irregular heartbeat corrected, according to a report from Reuters.
“This little break has given me more energy than ever,” said Williams in a statement on his official Web site. “Plus it’s wonderful to have a cow valve… If you don’t mind the grazing, it’s quite invigorating.”
When Williams launched Weapons of Self-Destruction in September 2008, it was his first comedy tour in six years. He added a second leg of tour dates in February 2009, which originally extended through late spring before being postponed.
