Best-selling opera-turned-pop diva Sarah Brightman has an extensive tour lined up for late fall and early winter to support her newest release. The 32-date trek makes the complete North American circuit, with shows in Mexico, Canada and the U.S.
Brightman begins her tour with four Mexican shows, including a two-night run in Mexico City at the Palacio de los Deportes. Her U.S. and Canadian dates kick off November 12 in Dallas, TX, and run through December 21 in Glendale, AZ.
The British soprano is currently touring in support of her fifteenth solo album, “Symphony,” which showcases her signature mix of classical music and operatic pop. The crossover record was released in January 2008 and has peaked within the top 50 on European, Asian, Australian and North American charts.
“Throughout my career I have worked in so many different styles of music,” Brightman explained on her Web site. “This is the first album where all of these styles come together to create a very diverse musical landscape.”
Brightman got her start in musical theater in the 1980s, most notably appearing in “Cats” as Jemima, and in ex-husband Andrew Lloyd Weber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” as Christine Daaé. She released her first solo album in 1988 and has since received more than 150 Gold and Platinum certifications around the world.
