All joking aside, Steve Martin is one talented guy. The comedian, actor, author, playwright, musician and composer is headed to country music’s premier venue, Nashille’s Grand Ole Opry, where he and his banjo will make their stage debut on May 30. Martin will perform songs from his first bluegrass album, the 15-song “The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo.”
Martin will be joined on stage by Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Stuart Duncan, Tim O’Brien and John McEuen, a founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and a producer of the album.
Martin has been playing banjo since he was 17 and wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the new album. Guest musicians on the album include Gill, Dolly Parton and Earl Scruggs.
“The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo” is currently sold exclusively at Amazon.com but will become available later this year at other music retailers. It hit No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Bluegrass Albums chart.
