Allman Brothers Band is one of the leading names in the genres of Southern rock and blues-rock. The group was formed in 1969 by brothers Duane and Gregg Allman and featured a wide variety of musicians as the band lineup changed over the years.
The band performed and recorded together on and off through the ’70s and ’80s until reforming long-term in 1989 for the band’s 20th anniversary. In recent years, the band has toured regularly, performing annual 15-show runs at the Beacon Theatre in New York City and starting its own music festival, the Wanee Music Festival.
For a brief time, the Allman Brothers’ touring obligations took a back seat as Gregg Allman struggled with complications from Hepatitis C. However, since successfully completing his treatments, Gregg Allman has renewed touring commitments with the Allman Brothers and completed his own occasional solo concerts.
