Liza Minnelli is an American actress and vocalist who has transitioned regularly among film, stage and television roles over the course of her decades-long career. However, she remains best known for her iconic portrayal of singer Sally Bowles in the 1972 musical film “Cabaret,” for which she won an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Actress, among other awards. Despite numerous health problems in recent years, Minnelli has continued performing live, most recently completing a 2008-2009 residency on Broadway, “Liza’s at the Palace…!” The show had a successful run and sell-outs led to multiple extensions for the residency. The production earned Minnelli her fourth Tony Award.
