MGMT is a musical duo known for their electronica/pop-rock sound, which includes their EP “Time to Pretend” which was released in 2005, and their first full length album, “Oracular Spectacular.” The album broadened MGMT’s musical boundaries and hit # 1 on Billboard Top Heatseeker’s chart, as well as the top 12 in the UK and the top 6 in Australia. It also was named the 18th best album of the decade by Rolling Stone magazine.
The band was nominated for Best New Artist, and the single “Kids” was nominated Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, for the 2010 Grammy’s. MGMT also was on tour opening for Of Montreal for an extended period in 2007. The band has opened for multiple other artists, including Radiohead, M.I.A., and Paul McCartney and has been featured at many festivals, including SXSW Music Festival, Austin City Limits, Coachella Music Festival, as well as Lollapalooza and others.
MGMT found international success with their 2007 debut, Oracular Spectacular, and dove further into sonic experimentation on 2010’s Congratulations.
