The National Basketball Association prides itself on having the best athletes and biggest superstars in sports, and for one weekend in February, they like to show it off. The NBA All-Star Game in an exhibition game between the best players of the Eastern Conference versus the best players of the Western Conference. The games origins date back to 1951, when the first All-Star Game was played at the historic Boston Garden. The Eastern Conference won that game, and as of 2009, leads the all-time series 35-24.
The All-Star Game is one of the main ticketing events of the NBA schedule, and this is mainly due to the fans heavy involvement. Fans vote on the starters for both teams, as well as vote on the games MVP. What started as just a single game has turned into a multiple day event, with All-Star Weekend giving fans plenty of bang for their ticket buck. Other competitions that take place during that weekend include the Slam Dunk Contest, Three-Point Shootout, Skills Challenge and the Rookie-Sophomore Challenge.
