Every year, each team in the National Basketball Association has one goal, and that is to make to the NBA Finals. The NBA’s championship round is a place were legendary players make history forever cementing their legacy. Bill Russell is known for his eleven NBA Championships with the Boston Celtics, Michael Jordan is revered for his six with the Chicago Bulls and Magic Johnson is remembered for his great performances in the Finals. Just like those players and the dozens more who have made a name in the NBA, basketball fans look forward to series every year.
Along with the Super Bowl and World Series, the NBA Finals are one of the highest grossing events in sports. That is particularly the case when teams in major markets qualify. The most common match-up has been the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers who have met in the NBA Finals 11 times as of 2009, most recently in the 2008 Finals. In that series ticket prices on the secondary ticket market reached all time highs on major resale sites including TicketNetwork, RazorGator and StubHub.
Currently the Celtics hold the record for most NBA Finals Championships with 17, followed by the Lakers who have 14, but hold the record for appearances with 29.
