Perhaps the most recognizable and successful franchise in professional sports, the New York Yankees have donned their pinstripes since 1913 racking up 26 World Series championships in that time. From 1923 through 2009, the Yankees played at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, NY before moving to the New Yankee Stadium right across the street. The Yankees caused a stir in the ticketing industry prior to the opening of their new stadium after they announced the ticket prices for the upcoming year. Ticket prices of as high as $2,600 per seat were by far the highest ticket price in baseball and caused many fans to be forced to drop their season tickets. After failing to sell out all the most expensive seats prior to the start of the 2009 season, owner Hal Steinbrenner even admitted prices were too high.
