This pop-rock band was founded in 2002 in Denver, CO. The group gained commercial success for its singles “Over My Head (Cable Car)” and “How to Save a Life.” Although their self-titled 2009 album did reach #1 on the Billboard charts, critical reception has been mixed. Critiques of their music have varied from hailing their music as “charming” and “appealing” to describing it as “dreary.”
Tickets to The Fray’s most recent worldwide tour were in very high demand; the tour started in January 2009, took a brief summer hiatus, and continued with a college tour throughout Fall 2009. One testament to the band’s commercial success was the Australian leg of their tour where a concert had to be moved to a larger venue due to their popularity.
Although the band has no set plans to tour in 2010, they are currently working on music that will possibly be released between late 2010 and early 2011.
