The Who is an English rock band, originally made up of Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle and Keith Moon. The group was formed in 1964, and they had reached peak popularity by the late 1960s; 1969’s “Tommy” went double platinum in the U.S., and their follow-up album “Who’s Next” reached triple platinum and topped the UK charts in 1971. They released several top 10 albums over the next decade, charting all over the world.
However, The Who started to struggle in the early 1980s due to Townshend’s personal troubles, including the breakup of his marriage and the abuse of alcohol and heroin. The group broke up in 1983, but they partially reunited several times. In 2006, “Endless Wire” was released, marking the group’s first album after a nearly 25 year recording hiatus. The Who’s most recent tour was in the fall of 2008.
