UK-based secondary ticket company viagogo was founded by StubHub co-founder Eric Baker, and according to its Web site, the company describes itself as “an online ticket exchange that allows people to buy and sell live event tickets in a safe and guaranteed way.”
viagogo, which has branded itself with a lowercase “v,” has made a name for itself by becoming the official secondary ticket exchange for powerhouse English football (soccer) teams Chelsea and Manchester United. In addition, the company is also the official secondary ticket exchange for the National Football League’s Cleveland Browns.
In the fall of 2007, the company also signed a deal with Live Nation to be the concert giant’s exclusive secondary ticket company in the Netherlands, and in 2008 it was the premium ticket seller for the European leg of Madonna’s hugely successful Sticky and Sweet Tour.
