Hot on the heels of a 19-date world tour, indie rock band The Faint is set to begin a second North American leg this fall. The 23-date jaunt kicks off October 19 at the Blue Note in Columbia, MO, and concludes November 14 at First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN.
Stops along the way include an October 31 gig at Sunshine Theatre in Albuquerque, NM, and a November 5 performance at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA. The successful first leg of The Faint’s 2008 North American tour ran from late July through the end of August. Limited presales for the upcoming tour began September 10.
The Faint is touring in support of its fifth full-length studio album, “Fasciinatiion,” released August 5. The record, which peaked at No. 46 on Billboard‘s Top 200, was four years in the making for the band, following 2004’s “Wet From Birth.”
The retro-futurist quintet from Omaha, NE, got its start in the mid-1990s under the name Norman Bailer with the now-well known Conor Oberst on guitar. However, Oberst quickly departed, after which point the band transformed itself from a light rock outfit to a synthesized indie juggernaut.
“From our point of view, synthesizers seemed to have a limitless and almost magical quality to them; magical in the sense that you could create a keyboard sound out of almost nothing, and have it perfectly fit your musical disposition,” lead singer Todd Fink commented on the band’s Web site.
