Even as they fill venues on a current international trek, alternative rockers The Killers are finalizing plans for their next North American venture. The 14-date late summer tour is scheduled to kick off August 31 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD, and continue through September 28 at Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, AZ.

Along the way, the Las Vegas-based band will stop for shows on September 4 at TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, MA; September 9 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO; and September 22 at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, CA. Two Canadian dates are on the booked for the run on September 5 at Quays Jaques Cartier in Montreal, QC, and September 6 at The Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto, ON.

Earlier in August, the band will be in North America for a couple of days to prepare for an August 9 headlining performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL. That concert will be preceded by an August 8 show at the Horseshoe Casino of Southern Indiana in Elizabeth, IN, but the Killers’ U.S. commitments don’t extend beyond that due to other international commitments.

Pre-sales are currently open for shows in Boston, MA; Holmdel, NJ; Wantagh, NY; Santa Barbara, CA; and Columbia, MD. The sales are open to members of the band’s official fan club, The Victims. Details about the pre-sales and following on-sales are available on The Killers’ Web site.

The Killers are touring behind their third studio album, “Day & Age,” released in November 2008. The effort peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, slightly lower than its 2006 predecessor “Sam’s Town,” which earned the group its highest-ever chart position with a No. 2 debut.

The Killers have already completed a three-week winter tour leg, followed by an additional three-week trek in spring in support of the release. They are currently on the road in Europe for a summer tour leg and will take the stage next on May 29 at Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
