Art rockers They Might Be Giants (TMBG) are known for their intelligent and quirky lyrics, layered harmonies, and high energy concerts. The duo of John Linnell (vocals, keyboard, accordion) and John Flansburgh (vocals, rhythm guitar) currently have seven shows scheduled over the next three months.

TMBG hits the road after Thanksgiving with three special “TMBG gives Thanks” appearances beginning with a November 28 gig at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, during which the iconic album “Flood” will be played in its entirety. The next night at Le Poisson Rouge in New York, NY, the Johns will tackle a cover-to-cover performance of “Apollo 18.” TMBG stays in the city to end the series with a special screening of the band biopic “Gigantic: A Tale of Two Johns” and a Q&A session with the Johns at the 92nd Street Y on November 30.

After November, the dynamic duo performs scattered shows across the Northeast, including two New Year’s Eve shows at the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philadelphia, PA, at 7:30 and 11:30 p.m. Another two show run hits the Alexander Kasser Theatre at MSU in Montclair, NJ, on January 17, starting with a family show at 4 p.m. and followed with a second concert at 7 p.m.

In recent years, TMBG has released a series of children’s albums, including the band’s 2008 release “Here Come the 123s,” a thematic follow-up to 2005’s “Here Come the ABCs.” As a result, they have done an increasing number of “family” matinee shows that have been popular among all age groups.

In addition to their increasing popularity with the preschool crowd, the Johns also released “The Else” in 2007 for their older audiences and completed a more traditional road tour of more than 70 performances to support the release that year.

TMBG is known for their 1990 major label debut “Flood,” which contained the hit single “Birdhouse in Your Soul” and the pair’s popular cover of “Istanbul (Not Constantinople).”
