Ever since the Queen of Rock & Roll announced her return to the stage during a taping of “Oprah” in April, the buzz surrounding Tina Turner’s comeback tour has been overwhelming. To accommodate high demand from fans, the iconic singer/songwriter booked additional performances in major cities, expanding her North American tour to 28 dates. However, the dynamic performer has a few more surprises for fans who can’t get enough.
Turner recently announced plans to release a compilation album (“Tina!”) on September 30, one day before Tina: Live In Concert Tour kicks off in Kansas City, MO. In addition to Turner’s timeless hits, such as “Proud Mary” and “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” the album will include two new songs from the vocalist. The tracks “I’m Ready” and “It Would Be A Crime” are the rock ‘n’ roll diva’s first original releases since her 1999 album, “Twenty Four Seven.”
The tour will weave through 21 cities, beginning with Turner’s sold-out opener on October 1. The North American leg of the tour will end on December 12 with her second stop in Toronto, Ontario. She will follow up her North American tour with 31 European dates, kicking off in January with four shows in Germany and wrapping up with three late-March to early-April shows in England.
Turner went into retirement following her worldwide Twenty Four Seven Tour in 2000. Since then, the vocalist has made only limited appearances, most notably her February 2008 performance with Beyonce at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards.
