U2 continues to break box office records. On April 6, the Irish quartet sold more than 450,000 tickets for its upcoming 360° Tour, bringing their total to 2.5 million tickets sold throughout Europe and North America.
On April 6, U2 sold 90,000 tickets at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA, for the stadium’s fastest selling and the largest attended concert to play the venue in history. The second and final Giants Stadium show in East Rutherford, NJ, was another immediate sell-out, bringing the total tickets sold at that venue to 164,000.
In Washington, DC, sales quickly surpassed 60,000 tickets sold in the first few hours while the second Chicago concert sold an additional 60,000 tickets. Vancouver, BC, sold over 57,000 tickets. Ticket sales were also strong for concerts in Atlanta, GA; Tampa, FL; and the second show in Boston, MA.
The final 2009 concert dates were also announced for Raleigh, NC, on October 3 at Carter Finlay Stadium and in Norman, OK, on October 18 at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Both go on sale April 10. Tickets for the October 23 performance at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, NV, go on sale on April 11.
Shows going on sale April 20 include the October 12 performance in the Dallas/Fort Worth market at the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX, the October 14 show at Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX, and the October 20 concert at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Phoenix, AZ.
The Irish rock band is touring behind their most recent studio release “No Line on the Horizon.” In the first two weeks of on-sales for the trek, more than 10 shows in Europe sold out within hours. The world-renowned group also had a record-breaking first week of ticket sales in North America.
