Due to the recent litigation filed by arena opponents, the team is backing up their planned San Francisco arena opening date one full season, to Fall 2019.

That means the team will be playing at Oracle Arena at least through the 2018-2019 season–three more seasons after this one–instead of the original plans to depart by the summer of 2018.

Welts said everything else is an all-go for the SF arena–only the litigation stands in the way of the Warriors putting a shovel in the ground, and it will take over two years to construct it once the shovel goes in.READ MORE BY CLICKING HERE

The Mission Bay Allianceissued the following statement:

“This is a victory for opponents of the Warriors ill-conceived Mission Bay entertainment complex. The Mission Bay Alliance’s two lawsuits along with growing public opposition will lead the Warriors to even more delays and we believe will ultimately cause the team to depart the Mission Bay neighborhood. The Warriors plans for an 18,500 seat arena with parking spaces for only 200 vehicles will cause gridlock throughout San Francisco and create economic harm to UCSF, biotechnology research, and to neighborhoods that stretch from the Bay Bridge to the Bayview.” Sam Singer, spokesman for the Mission Bay Alliance.
