Zeitgeist
Putting Sunday’s TicketWeb debacle behind them, North Carolina’s Orange Peel nightclub in five minutes sold out all 8,478 tickets for the Smashing Pumpkins’ nine-night concert stand.

According to the Asheville Citizen-Times, tickets for the Internet-only sale were released Monday at 7pm using Ticketmaster’s servers which could handle the rush. TicketWeb is a subsidiary of Ticketmaster, but the original crush on Sunday for tickets reportedly crashed TicketWeb’s servers within two minutes.

The Orange Peel dates mark the first concerts by the partially reformed Pumpkins in seven years, and will kick off the North American leg of the band’s current tour in support of their upcoming album Zeitgeist. . . In addition to the Orange Peel shows and performances around the country this summer, the band is also planning an eight-night stand in late July at the Fillmore in San Francisco.
