Dallas symphonic pop group The Polyphonic Spree is taking its trademark sound — fusion of strings, brass, rock and choir — on the road for a co-headlining club and theater tour with Los Angeles quintet Rooney.

The 26-date, coast-to-coast U.S. tour, which begins in mid-October and runs to mid-November, supports their new albums, The Spree’s “The Fragile Army” and Rooney’s “Calling the World.”

With 23 members and a recent visual change from colorful robes to black military garb, The Spree are one of the more unique rock acts touring today. As for Rooney, the band continues to build on its exposure from the former hit TV show “The O.C.” . . .

Kicking off Oct. 14 in Pontiac, MI and winding down Nov.17 in Baltimore, Chi-Town’s The Redwalls will support all dates.

Just prior to the tour, The Spree will perform at The Echo Project, a three-day, green music festival outside Atlanta featuring The Killers, Phil Lesh & Friends, The Flaming Lips, and others.
