New Kids on the Block (NKOTB), the boy band that helped launch the boy band craze, has reunited 14 years after disbanding, and are planning to perform their first reunion show at Z100’s May 17 Zootopia concert at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ. The concert will also feature Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers and Simple Plan.
The group confirmed their reunion with an appearance on “The Today Show” on April 4 and will perform on the show on May 16. NKOTB is currently working on their first new album since 1994 that should be released this summer and followed in the fall by an already hotly anticipated international tour.
The group was formed by producer Maurice Starr in 1984 in Boston; Starr had already had success with another teen group, New Edition. At the height of their popularity, NKOTB sold out world tours and sold millions of dollars worth of merchandise. They even had a Saturday morning cartoon.
Band members Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre and Danny Wood have all released solo albums, Donnie Wahlberg has become a successful actor and Jonathan Knight became a real estate developer.
VIP ticket packages for the May 17 show will be available beginning May 2. Pre-sales for the fall dates begin in May.
