Live Nation says it is feeling the pain its concert fans are experiencing at the gas pump, so for one day only on July 18, more than 40 shows at its Los Angeles and San Diego venues will be offering $10 tickets. This discount will apply to select shows, from 10 a.m. to midnight, while ticket supplies last. These deals are for lawn seats only.

Live Nation advised Ticketnews that this is not a national promotion, but determined by the local market. Discounts of this nature have also been given in Tampa, FL.

Participating artists include Rod Stewart with Bryan Adams, Maroon 5 and Counting Crows, Santana, ZZ Top & Brooks and Dunn, Marc Anthony, Alejandro Fernandez, Steel Pulse, Bullet for my Valentine and Regeneration Tour, among many, many others.

Participating venues include: Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk, The Wiltern, Verizon Wireless, San Manuel Amphitheater, House of Blues (Sunset Strip and Anaheim), and Avalon.

Over the years, Live Nation has done similar promotions for two-for-one deals as well for lawns seats only. Historically, the sheds have attracted 51 percent of capacity crowds, and these types of discounts have been done on a seasonal basis. However, even if a show does only 51 percent of capacity, and many do less, this does not mean that it was not profitable for the promoter.
