Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist Common has tapped the experimental talents in N*E*R*D to join him for several U.S. tour dates this fall. Common kicks off his tour on August 23 with a performance at the SoCo Music Experience in San Diego. The current leg of the tour wraps October 24 in Columbia, MO.
Common is touring in support of his eighth studio record, “Invincible Summer,” slated for released on September 23, 2008. The rapper, whose name is Lonnie Lynn, got his start in 1992 with his debut “Can I Borrow A Dollar?” In addition to his studio recordings, Common released a “best of” album in November 2007, closely following the July 2007 release of his Gold-certified chart-topper, “Finding Forever.”
At the moment, N*E*R*D is scheduled to accompany Common on seven dates of his tour. The experimental hip-hop/alternative rock group, started by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of the Neptunes, got its start in 2002 with the release of the debut “In Search Of….” Since then, the group has released two more studio records, including “Seeing Sounds” which dropped in June 2008.
Common will appear at the all-day SoCo Music Experience in San Diego along with Saul Williams and The Black Keys. The 21+ event is free to the public, but any donations made will benefit the San Diego Music Foundation.
