Following a string of July performances across the UK and Europe, psychedelic rockers The Dandy Warhols are gearing up for their first full-length North American tour since 2005. The 17-city trek begins September 9 in Minneapolis, MN, and continues through October 5 in the band’s hometown of Portland, OR.

The North American tour includes two Canadian dates, September 13 in Toronto, ON, and September 14 in Montreal, QC. Following this leg of the tour, the Warhols will be headed Down Under for a set of six Australian shows in late October and early November.

The Dandy Warhols are touring in support of “…Earth to the Dandy Warhols…,” released digitally on May 19, and followed by the August 18 CD release. The iTunes version of the record includes two bonus tracks, “Sister Golden Hair” and a French version of “Welcome to the Third World.”

“…Earth” is the eighth studio album for the band, who received critical accolades and mainstream success with “Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia” in 2000. The new record includes guest appearances from Mark Knopfler and Mike Campbell, guitarist for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

The Portland, OR-based quartet debuted in 1995 with “Dandys Rule, OK?” before making the switch to Capitol Records for 1997’s “…The Dandy Warhols Come Down.” However, the transition wasn’t a smooth one for the band, whose intended ’97 release, “The Black Album,” was rejected by Capitol, forcing the band to return to the studio and record “Come Down.” The Dandy Warhols had the final word, though, when they released “The Black Album” as a set with “Come on Feel the Dandy Warhols” in 2004 on their own label, Beat the World Records.

Over the years, the Warhols’ music has been used extensively to soundtrack films and television shows, including multiple features on “The O.C.” and “Veronica Mars.”
