British alt-rock band James is backing its first studio album in seven years with an 18-date tour of North America, which continues tonight at the Paradise in Boston, MA. The concert is the final night of the tour’s two-night opener at the rock club, before continuing on to Philadelphia, PA, for a September 16 gig at Trocadero Theatre.

The highlight of the trek is a September 19 performance at Radio City Music Hall in New York, NY. The single-night engagement features James as support for band Squeeze on the final night of the iconic new wave band’s U.S. tour.

The North American leg concludes with October 7-8 performances in Mexico at unannounced venues in Mexico City and Guadalajara. From there, the band heads across the pond for an eight-show trek in December. The UK dates kick off December 9 at Brighton Dome in Brighton and continues through a December 19-20 run at the Manchester Central Convention Center in the band’s native Manchester.

James is touring in support of the group’s tenth studio album, “Hey Ma,” the follow-up to 2001’s “Pleased To Meet You.” The album, which hit iTunes on September 2, is slated for physical release in the U.S. on September 16.

James formed in 1981 and is best known for the U.S. single “Laid,” which peaked at No. 3 on Billboard‘s modern rock charts in 1993.
