TicketNews has released its exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, September 28, and Madison Square Garden (MSG) remains at the top of the rankings for the third straight week with a power score of 3.80. Strong sales for popular artists such as Madonna, AC/DC, New Kids on the Block and Tina Turner, as well as Cirque Du Soleil’s Wintuk, are sustaining MSG’s hold on the number one slot.

With the Dallas Cowboys topping TicketNews’ Top Sports Events rankings once again and at number four in TicketNews’ Top Combined Events rankings, Texas Stadium maintains at number two on our list for the third week running. The stadium has a power score of 3.66 this week.

The Gershwin Theatre also keeps its place this week, holding steady at number three on the list with a power score of 2.84. As “Wicked” continues to rule both the TicketNews’ Top Broadway Events and Top Theater Events rankings, the theater easily maintains its top five placement in our list again this week. The second football venue in our rankings, Giants Stadium once again follows the Gershwin in the number four slot. The home field of the ever-popular New York Giants and New York Jets has placed in the top five in our venues rankings for the entire month of September. The stadium comes in with a power score of 2.04 this week.

Continuing to rise in the rankings is the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, MA, which arrives in the number five position this week with a power score of 1.74. The Garden is benefiting from continued robust sales for acts like AC/DC, Madonna, Coldplay, Metallica and Tina Turner. A new arrival to our top ten, the MGM Grand Garden Arena comes in at number six this week with a power score of 1.49. The Garden can thank ticket sales for artists like Madonna and Christmas favorite Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which tours with two separate bands this year, as well as for the December 6 bout between Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao for its move into the top ten this week. The fourth concert venue on the list this week, is the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA, which dropped two spots to the number six slot. Sales for top acts like Coldplay, AC/DC, Madonna, Metallica, New Kids on the Block, the Eagles and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra are keeping this venue in the top ten each week. The Wachovia Center power scores a 1.42 this week.

For the first time in four weeks, Wrigley Field pops back into the top ten at number nine with a power score of 1.27. Fans anxious to cheer on their playoff-bound Chicago Cubs are responsible for the field’s reappearance in our top ten this week.

Down one to the number ten slot this week is the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center. Home to “South Pacific”, the theater can thank this popular show’s continued strong sales for its repeated top ten finishes. The Vivian Beaumont comes in with a power score of 1.23 this week.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
