After finishing a six-date opening stint with Pearl Jam in June, political punk-rockers Ted Leo and The Pharmacists will be on the road again this fall. The trio’s latest tour opens September 30 at WorkPlay Theatre in Birmingham, AL, and wraps just after Election Day on November 5 at Diesel in Pittsburgh, PA.

The group will team up with socially-conscious kindred spirits Against Me! and Future of the Left for 26 shows through October 28 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA. Beginning with the October 30 gig at the Casbah in San Diego, CA, indie rockers Titus Andronicus will step in to finish the remaining six shows on The Pharmacists’ run.

Based out of Washington, DC, frontman Ted Leo is known for being outspoken in political matters and frequently updates the band’s Web site with his musings on the current political climate in the U.S. These issues often appear in Leo’s music, as well, most notably in the band’s 2007 single “Bomb. Repeat. Bomb.”

The Pharmacists are touring in support of 2007’s “Living with the Living,” their fifth album and first release with Touch and Go Records. The record, a follow-up to 2004’s “Shake the Sheets,” debuted at No. 109 on the Billboard 200 and featured the band’s signature blend of punk and indie rock.
