New wave rockers Duran Duran are rolling out the “Red Carpet” for a second time this year to promote their latest album. Following a brief South American run, the Red Carpet Massacre Tour marches on to North America with a November 28 show at Sports Palace in Mexico City, MEX, and makes its first step across the border for a December 1 concert at Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, TX.

The 13-date North American trek wraps on December 14 at the newly renovated Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ. Highlights include a December 5 show at the Verizon Wireless Theater in Houston, TX, and a December 12 show at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods casino in Mashantucket, CT. Additionally, two stops in Canada are slated for December 9 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON, and December 10 at the Metropolis in Montreal, QC.

Duran Duran is continuing to support “Red Carpet Massacre,” the 12th studio album for the group that released their eponymous debut in 1981. The record, a follow-up to 2004’s “Astronaut,” debuted at No. 36 on the Billboard 200.

Acclaimed music industry maven Timbaland worked with the band in New York to produce the album. In a statement on the band’s Web site, singer Simon LeBon said, “When we sat down and listened to what we had done on our own, we didn’t feel we had a lead track, so we got in touch with Timbaland, who was the only producer out there that we knew we all liked.”

The rockers debuted “Red Carpet Massacre” during a nine-show residency at the Barrymore Theatre on Broadway in New York, NY, immediately preceding the album’s November 13 release in the U.S. The last three performances, however, had to be moved to the nearby Roseland Ballroom when a strike on Broadway closed the Barrymore box office.

“We have made an album that we are all really proud of, and we wanted to present it in a very unique way,” LeBon said in a statement at the time. “Staging a run on Broadway is something that we’ve often talked about over the years, but the time has never seemed right until now.”

The first leg of the North American tour launched April 29 at General Motors Place in Vancouver, BC, and stretched through a May 30-31 run at the Central Park SummerStage in New York, NY. From there, the band continued on to a summer run of Europe that wrapped in late July.
