Despite a late-stage change in the tour billing, the show still goes on for indie rock crew Electric Six on their extensive U.S. and European trek this fall. The Hittin’ the Walls & Workin’ the Middle Tour continues tonight (October 22) at Fubar in St. Louis, MO, and wraps its U.S. run on November 29 at St. Andrews Hall in their native Detroit, MI, before heading overseas.

The aptly-named six-piece rock band was originally supposed to be joined on the road by rock duo Local H and a Toronto-based pop-rock outfit called The Golden Dogs. But just a couple days before the extensive tour was set to begin, Electric Six released a statement that “due to circumstances beyond [the band’s] control,” The Golden Dogs could not appear at any of the scheduled shows.

“If you were planning on coming to these shows just to see the Golden Dogs, rest assured, you may want to come anyway,” the Electric Six crew posted on their official Web site. “Take it from lead dog Dave Azzolini, who just yesterday went to the top of the CN Tower in his hometown of Toronto and shouted these words to the citizens below: ‘If you were planning on coming to see us at any point in the next five weeks, the best way to honour our absence is to go to the show anyway!'”

However, the band also noted that the quick departure left open supporting slots on the bill that could be filled by other bands. Though Electric Six cannot personally book any vacancies, the band directed interested parties to the local venues and concert promoters.

“If you are in a band in any of the towns we are scheduled to visit, you may be doing the math and realizing that there are some open support slots available now,” the bandmates wrote in the statement. “The decision for any bands that may be added to bills will be made by local venues and local promoters only. Neither Electric Six nor our booking agent, The Agency Group, will be involved in deciding who fills the vacant slots.”

Electric Six and Local H will perform more than 30 shows in the U.S. and eight more gigs abroad on the current tour. American gig stops include a Halloween concert at Bluebird Theater in Denver, CO, and a November 22 performance at Webster Hall in New York, NY. The European run begins December 4 at Auditorium in Murcia, SPA, and closes December 14 at ABC in Glasgow, SCO.

Electric Six is touring in support of their fifth studio album, “Flashy,” which hit U.S. stores yesterday (October 21). According to a statement on the band’s Web site, a recent deal with Round Records will also enable the record’s subsequent release in the UK and Europe.
