Trance fusion group the Disco Biscuits is coming off a four-month break from touring with plans for an extensive winter 2009 outing. The 25-city trek opens with a two-night run at the Calvin Theatre in Northampton, MA, on January 16 and 17, with dates currently booked through March 6 at Charleston Music Hall in Charleston, SC.
During the tour, the Disco Biscuits are scheduled to perform a January 24 concert at Congress Theater in Chicago, IL, a January 31 gig at Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA, and a February 28 show at the new House of Blues venue in Boston, MA. Two-night stands are also booked for February 13-14 at the Ogden Theatre in Denver, CO, as well as February 26-27 at Higher Ground in Burlington, VT.
Additional surprise shows set for March 7 and 8 will be announced on December 8, the same day ticket on-sales begin on the band’s Web site. General on-sales for Ticketmaster follow on December 12. More concert dates and supporting artist announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
Before hitting the road in 2009, the Disco Biscuits plan to ring in the New Year with a five-day run of shows at the Nokia Theatre in New York, NY. The run begins with shows on December 26, 27, 28 and 30, and concludes with three sold-out sets on December 31.
Formed 13 years ago, the Disco Biscuits are preparing for their first studio album since the release of “Señor Boombox” in 2002. The forthcoming effort will be the fifth studio record for the Philadelphia-based group and draws inspiration from their hometown’s hip-hop community with the help of duo Don Cheegro and Dirty Harry.
In the years since releasing “Señor Boombox,” which hit No. 13 on Billboard‘s electronic albums chart and No. 46 on the independent albums chart, the Disco Biscuits have supplemented their music catalogue with a series of live releases.
