Grammy nominated indie band Death Cab for Cutie will hit the road this spring for more than 20 performances across the United States. The jaunt begins with a March 7 appearance at the Langerado Music Festival in Miami, FL, and picks up again with an April 7 set at Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, PA.

Before closing out on May 6 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA, the rock quartet will play dates from coast-to-coast. Stops along the way include an April 11 show at Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, TN, an April 17 gig at Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, IL, and a May 4 performance at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN.

Presales for the spring 2009 tour open on January 28 at 3 p.m. (local time) for all venues, and are accessible only to members of the official Death Cab fan club, DCFC Union Local #1138. The first public onsales begin January 30.

Barsuk Records labelmates Ra Ra Riot will be the featured support for all but three dates of the tour: April 13 in Omaha, NE; April 29 in La Jolla, CA; and May 2 in New Orleans, LA. Cold War Kids will provide additional support through the April 17 concert at Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, CA. Matt Costa will pick up supporting duties for the remainder of the tour, beginning with the May 1 performance at Austin Music Hall in Austin, TX.

Death Cab is continuing to tour behind the band’s May 2008 album “Narrow Stairs.” It is the sixth studio album for the group, which began as a solo project for frontman Ben Gibbard, and the first to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
